The yarn on that cone is 2/48NM, which makes it cobweb weight. In order to make the shawl in question, I will have to use size 1 (2.25mm or 2.5mm) needles to get gauge. This equates to a *lot* of knitting with really really thin yarn. I might go mad in the process, or it might be alright once I find more agreeable needles.

Question by Lola L: Knitting question: Using a different size needle for a pattern, what do I do?
I have a pattern for size 8 needles. I would like to use it with size 6 needles. It says to cast on 30 stitches and knit for 14 inches. How can I modify this pattern for size 6 needles? (Please include the way you got the answer, for future reference in this situation)
Thanks!

Note: I chose this photo, among the ten that I uploaded to Flickr on the evening of Apr 5, 2011, as my "photo of the day." It’s a very simple photo, and I liked it because it raised more questions than it answered: who is this girl? Where is she going with her suitcase? Why does she look for intent and focused? Is she angry about something? Is she on her way to see someone? Etc, etc, etc.

Question by KimberlyAnn: Knitting question – does it really matter the yarn you use?
I like using yarn I get at a craft store, I go to a knitting group and they talk about different yarns and they are more expensive and I don’t think the finaly product will be much different.
