I was not happy with how my new poncho was looking, so I tore the whole thing out. I added cables, so it will be a lot more fun to knit. It’s an upside-down pattern, which means it starts at the neck, and since I can’t bear dps, I got the cutest, shortest, most dreamy circular needle imaginable for the little turtle, which you see here.

I made this poncho on commission for a young friend. She picked out four yarns and drew some design sketches; I showed her some lace patterns and measured her shoulder and arm length to mid-wrist, and started knitting with the neck in the round and short-row shaping as I started the lace.

My sister Annette asked me to knit a very light and airy poncho for her July birthday. Yarn used was Rowan Summer Tweed, a worsted weight silk/cotton blend. The pattern was a really simple one that I bought on eBay.
