Question by SLopez: what is the name of the tool used to loop yarn over when crocheting an afghan.?
It looks like a big knitting needle with a flat bottom to keep your yarn from coming off the end .
The needle does not have a hook on the end as you need to slide loops off the the needle .

A yarn over is a way to increase by one stitch. It creates a hole in the knitting which is often used as a design element. Take a look at the web site I’ve got listed as a source. Scroll all the way to the bottom and there’s a link that shows how to do a YO.

Hi! I need some knitting advice please! I’m following a pattern that directs me to:
Yarn Over, Slip Slip Knit, Knit 3 to end – now I know what Yarn Over is, but I don’t understand how I can start off a row with a YO increase?
